XML security from W3C

Yes, the updated specs are backward compatible with XML Signature 1.0.
Since I studied the XSD schemas for these spec, I am quite confident.  Even
SHA1 continues to be required in XML Signature 1.1 only for
backwards-compatibility reasons.
