Proposed draft recommendation on product sub-division

Dear members of WG 6

I propose the following draft recommendation to the SC 34 Plenary, for 
discussion during item 7.1 during the Thursday afternoon session.

WG 6 recommends that SC 34 sub-divide Project 26300 OpenDocument Format 
to enable an amendment to be prepared, on the basis of the formal 
submission of ODF 1.1 by OASIS (SC 34 N 1374) and supported by documents 
prepared by the Project Editor (SC 34 N 1375).

In conjunction with this Recommendation I propose that the following 
information be provided to the SC 34 Secretariat:

Title of project sub-division: ISO/IEC 26300:2006 - Open Document Format 
for Office Applications (OpenDocument) v1.0 - Amendment 1 (OpenDocument 
v1.1)

Scope of project sub-division: Alignment of ISO/IEC 26300:2006 with the 
published OASIS standard OpenDocument Format v1.1, to achieve technical 
equivalence.

Rationale: OASIS standard OpenDocument Format v1.1 is the most widely 
implemented version of the format and contains several technical 
improvements compared with the current edition of ISO/IEC 26300:2006, 
which aligns with OASIS standard OpenDocument Format v1.0 (Second 
Edition). It is important that the ISO/IEC standard be equivalent to the 
best and most widely-implemented version.
