Hi Dennis

Your suggestion sounds feasible. Assuming the Amendment is published, we would have a choice of making the correction in one of two ways:

a) A third Technical Corrigendum of ISO/IEC 26300:2006. If no Errata for ODF v1.0 is published by OASIS, this would strictly speaking take ISO/IEC 26300:2006 (WITHOUT the Amendment) out of alignment with ODF v1.0. Remember that ISO/IEC 26300:2006 could in theory still be implemented without the Amendment, even if the Amendment is published. That would be like implementing ODF v1.0.

b) A first Technical Corrigendum of ISO/IEC 26300:2006/Amd 1. We could simply replace the schema fragment, because this already appears in the text of Amendment 1 (with an ellipsis at the important point - which is why no-one spotted the defect). This would enable us to align with the Errata for ODF v1.1 and not worry about ODF v1.0.

So (b) sounds, on the face of it, to be the best option.

If the ODF TC are happy to proceed this way, all we need is for a National Body to submit a defect report and we can start preparing a Corrigendum. We don't need a ballot or resolution of SC 34 to do that. But I think we will have to wait until the Amendment is published.

Now would be a good time for experts to find and report other editorial defects in ODF v1.1...

Francis
