I've gone ahead and drawn up the various changes needed for this one. Changes are attached. The diffs look somewhat enormous, but really there are only 30 places or so.

Rex, for future reference, you can do this in Word by searching for
(xmlns:?)=""
and replacing with
xmlns:\1="..."
You need to turn wildcards in in search, and turn off the "smart quotes" in autocorrect and make sure the elisions are real elisions and not just three dots.

As an aside, this is one place where Open Office beats MS Office hands down, because it allows you to use regular expressions in search and replace instead of having to remember all these daft app-specific codes.

Subject: DR 10-0021 — General: "null" namespace in examples

No rest for the wicked. This one covers the erroneous assigning of prefixes to the "" namespace in several examples in Part 1. It looks like the easiest solution is to map these to "...", as is done in all of the other examples. I realise that's not producing any more valid XML than the current situation, but it's at least clearer what's intended and it saves pasting large swathes of namespace text into all of the examples.

Thoughts appreciated - we should also probably schedule this for discussion on the next WG4 call.
