Exports from Assembla: DRs and schemas

Dear colleagues,

I have an action item: "Action: Murata-san to look at making regular off-line
backups of the assembla repository. "

1. Exporting our Assembla subversion repository containing schemas

We can export the subvesion repository as a ZIP file, download it, and
load it to a different subversion repository. The exported repository
can be loaded into any subversion repository. So, even if Assembla
disappears, we will not lose schemas and the change history.

2. Exporting tickets containing DR information

Authoritative sources of DRs are MS Word files maintained by Rex, and
Assembla tickets will be automatically generated from them. Thus, loss
of Assembla tickets is not a problem, but we can export tickets.
Exported tickets *cannot* be loaded into non-Assembla ticket services.

3. Backup

Assembla makes daily internal backups on Amazon. If we are
willing to create an Amazon S3 account, we can also create our
own backup. However, such backup data can only be
loaded to Assembla, and thus do not help when Assembla
disappears.

4. My opinion

Even if tickets representing DRs are gone, we have no problems.
We do not want to lose schemas and change history even when
Assembla instantly disappears. So, I think that I should
export the repository every month manually.

Cheers,
Makoto
