Here is the text I had in mind:

Conformance is limited to document semantics covered by the schema of IS 29500 and does not extend to other content embedded in a document. [Example: A document is permitted to include arbitrary binary data in extra parts as long as this is incorporated in a manner permitted by MCE. If a conformant SML Strict presentation was to incorporate a binary representation of a Lotus 1-2-3 file (WK4) as a separate Part then the Strict container document may be said to be conformant with PML Strict, but this statement cannot be made about any content in the embedded file. end example]
