An alternative for downloading the materials is to visit the folder on the
OASIS site:

[The versions at http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/ also works except
the HTML pages will not find the necessary images. The pictures folder is
not currently replicated at that level.]

Many of the documents have relative links among each other (ODT to ODT, PDF
to PDF, and of course HTML to HTML) giving some advantage to having the
documents in a single directory on your local computer. You must be careful
to preserve the exact file names for this to be workable.

 - Dennis

Although I find it too time-consuming and not always successful to follow
links from one document into the interior of another, others may have less
difficulty.

Subject: [office] Public Review of OpenDocument v1.2

To OASIS members, Public Announce Lists:

The OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC has
recently approved the following specification as a Committee Draft and
approved the package for public review:

Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) Version 1.2

This standard specifies the characteristics of an XML-based
application-independent and platform-independent digital document file
format, as well as the characteristics of software applications which read,
write and process such documents. This standard is applicable to document
authoring, editing, viewing, exchange and archiving, including text
documents, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, drawings, charts and similar
documents commonly used by personal productivity software applications.

This standard has three parts:

Part 1 defines an XML schema for office documents. Office documents includes
text documents, spreadsheets, charts and graphical documents like drawings
or presentations, but is not restricted to these kinds of documents.

Part 2 defines a formula language for OpenDocument documents.

Part 3 defines the package format for OpenDocument documents.

The public review starts today, 8 July 2010, and ends 6 September 2010. This
is an open invitation to comment. We strongly encourage feedback from
potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for
the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of OASIS work. We
also welcome interested parties to join the TC as it continues to further
development of its specifications. The OASIS OpenDocument TC revises and
maintains the ODF standard, with active liaisons to the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34,
as well as the OASIS ODF Adoption TC and OASIS Interoperability and
Conformance TC. Please feel free to distribute this announcement within your
organization and to other appropriate mail lists.

More non-normative information about the specification and the technical
committee may be found at the public home page of the TC at [1] below.
Comments may be submitted to the TC by any person through the use of the
OASIS TC Comment Facility which can be located via the button marked "Send A
Comment" at the top of that page, or directly at [2] below.

Submitted comments (for this work as well as other works of that TC) are
publicly archived and can be viewed at [3] below. All comments submitted to
OASIS are subject to the OASIS Feedback License, which ensures that the
feedback you provide carries the same obligations at least as the
obligations of the TC members.

We also call your attention to the OASIS IPR Policy applicable to the work
of this technical committee, which can be found at [4] below. All members of
the TC should be familiar with this document, which may create obligations
regarding the disclosure and availability of a member's patent, copyright,
trademark and license rights that read on an approved OASIS specification.
OASIS invites any persons who know of any such claims to disclose these if
they may be essential to the implementation of the above specification, so
that notice of them may be posted to the notice page for this TC's work, at
[5] below.

OASIS and the OpenDocument TC welcome your comments.
