First, I strongly doubt that the second figure and "If Latin text is
interspersed on this line, then it is placed across the number of grid 
units needed to fit the content, but all other grid positions are unaffected."
in 17.6.5 means something unacceptable for Japanese typographers.
But neither the text nor the images are clear enough.

It is important to make image files in this subclause clearer, 
for the discussion of Kihon-hanmen in the Japanese NWIP.

If the file size is a problem, use simple kanji characters such as 
U+53E3.
