This is in regards to the CH defect report.  Our proposed response is as follows.
DR 09-177 WML: Embedded control name length and content constraints
No change needed.

It is application defined to interpret the unique name for embedded controls. According to this standard any string can be specified as a name. This concept is similar to W3C HTML 4.01 standard in specifying a string value for a number of attributes.

Restricting the content of this attribute would negatively affect backwards compatibility as well as interoperability with existing implementations of the standard.
