DR 11-0029

Hello Murata-San,
This seems like a re-hash of the same conversation we had in Prague. While I understand the need for articulating what is allowed, being proscriptive about what might be disallowed would seem to stifle any attempts at the evolution or innovation my implementers trying to use this. I would rather say something is “not supported” than disallowed.
On your second issue regarding examples…. Do we always include examples, or are you just asking for an examples for this specific case? If so, your sentence seems incomplete as to what you’re requesting. “We do not even have examples, which shows which elements of DSig 1.0 is currently.” Is currently what? Are you asking for examples of each element of DSig 1.0? A set of examples?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide,
Rich

Aarti,
We certainly should go ahead. But without knowing
which element of DSig 1.1 should be allowed
and which should be disallowed, we simply cannot
close this DR. (We closed DR 11-0030 but
we cannot avoid the version issue and close DR 11-0029.)
At present, there are are very little expertise of digital
signature in WG4. We do not even have examples,
which shows which element of DSig 1.0 is currently.
We also have to make sure that our decision
is implementable. I am thus expecting slow progress
in this area.

Makoto

Hello Murata-San,
I was going over my notes from Prague and I recall we all agreed on the following for DR 11-0029: We will not discuss DSig1.1 with this DR as it's a separate issue and should not block fixing and closing this DR.
Let me know if points 1, 3, 4 are written up as per our discussion, we should go ahead with resolving this DR.
Thanks,
Aarti
